About Us

Newbold Verdon Primary School is situated in the rural village of Newbold Verdon in the county of Leicestershire.  It is approximately 4 miles from the small market town of Market Bosworth and lies in the historical district of Hinckley and Bosworth, in the heart of Richard III country.  Excitingly, there are lots of opportunities for the children to discover the amazing story of the Battle of Bosworth, the inspirational mathematician Ada Lovelace and the beauty of the National Forest within easy reach of the school.

We are very proud of our school premises which are set in glorious countryside.  Our original school building dates back to 1909 but has had several additions as it has grown.  These additions allow us to potentially move from one form entry to 1.5 in the future. Outside we have expansive playing fields, a sensory garden and a well-used Forest School. We have a large playground, and an EYFS playground which was expanded and enhanced at Easter 2021, with the addition of a large arctic cabin.

Our school is one form entry with 234 children on roll and room to grow. We take children from a broad catchment area but mainly from a range of local villages.  We have the privilege of an on-site Pre-school, soon to be led by a qualified teacher, and a 24-place Autism Unit which enables us to meet the range of needs in our children from ages 3-11.

Newbold Verdon is an aspiring, ambitious school which seeks to offer a highly inspiring curriculum for our children. As of September 2022, we shall offer Wrap Around Care for all children. Every child will experience sessions in our Forest School and a programme of highly enriching and engaging learning experiences. In addition, children’s learning will be supported through the latest technology with iPads used by all children throughout the school.

Newbold Verdon is at the heart of the community, with many of the 3000 residents having passed through its doors. For almost 150 years, the children of Newbold Verdon have been welcomed into a caring and pupil-focused school, whose reach extends well beyond the school gates. Parents are invited to participate in a range of events and celebrations at school, and parents and grandparents are an essential part of school life. The school has strong links with local churches and with the help of its Community Room is a much loved space for villagers, young and old, to meet and take part in local groups.

All our team are excited about the learning that takes place in our school. On these pages you will find information about each part of our school and how we can support you and your family in their learning journey.

Please enjoy finding out a little more.
