The
"Friends of Newbold Verdon Primary School" (FNVS) is an association of
parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, guardians or carers of
children and staff in the school and other persons wishing to offer
appropriate support or help to the school.
To advance the education of pupils in the School by;
- Developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school.
- Engaging
in activities or providing facilities or Equipment which support the
School and advance the education of the pupils.
We
achieve these objectives mainly by raising money through various
activities such as; sponsored events, discos for the children, a
summer fayre, raffles, providing tea & coffee at school productions
and making toast for the pupils which is sold at the morning break.
The money we raise is then used to provide activities and equipment which support the school's educational objectives.
Our donations have made a major contribution to the development of the
ITC suite, provided outdoor play and wet playtime equipment, library
books, theatre productions in school amongst many other things.
Last year £4,900 profit was raised by the Friends for the school. This year we again set ourselves a target of £3,000 and have managed to raise £4,475 which is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved; the FNVS committee, parents, staff and of course the pupils as well.
Over the last year we have donated £4,199.40 to the school including:
- £1,000 General curriculum fund
- £1,000 New Library
- £1,000 Internal Outside Play Area
- £ 280 Bitesize Theatre
- £ 719 Sports Kit
- £ 200 FrenchCoach Day
These
things all advance the education of the children and the school would
not be able to afford them without our support and we hope that this
year will be as successful.

The main work of the committee is organizing and helping at fundraising events and activities. If you have any ideas for new ways to raise money or you would like to get involved with the committee or help at any of our events please contact anyone on the committee directly or via the office. We always welcome new people getting involved. To find out more about how you can help please contact the Headteacher.
We have a meeting every term to which everyone is invited. Dates and agendas for the meetings are published in regular newsletters and on the FNVS notice board in the main reception area of the school near the office. Minutes of all meetings are also available on the notice board.
The Annual General Meeting is held at the beginning of the Autumn Term. It includes a report on the previous year and the accounts. The committee and officers for the coming year are also elected at this meeting. A copy of the accounts for the previous year is available on the notice board.
The wholemeal toast made by FNVS volunteers every day is very much
enjoyed by the children and provides them with a healthy snack and
helps concentration as well!
Last year it was also our biggest fundraising activity raising over £1,100.
A big 'thank you' goes to all the volunteers who make this possible it is a really worthwhile activity.
We always need new volunteers to make toast either on a regular or occasional basis.
If you can help please contact the school office with your details.
