Our School

Newbold Verdon Primary School is located at the heart of the village. We currently have just under 200 pupils (15 of which are taught within our specialist autism provision) on roll. Our catchment area has traditionally been children from Newbold Verdon but a number of our pupils now do come from further afield.  Our school also offers a morning playgroup for 3+ children on site.

All our mainstream children are taught in single year group classes. In addition to 11 classrooms, our school offers an ICT suite, DT room, library, soft play room, sensory room, hall, community lounge, kitchen and offices. Our outside facilities include a marked activity playground, outdoor play equipment with artificial turf for all year round fun, sensory garden and a large playing field.

Our Unit for children with Autism was opened in September 1999. It is an integral part of Newbold Verdon Primary School and all staff, governors and children view the Unit and the main part of the school as a whole.

Children from our unit must legally be included in the National Data for Keystage1 & 2 SATs, league tables and Ofsted reports.  This may, on occasions, mean that the reported results do not realistically reflect the standards achieved by pupils within mainstream school.  However, such is the positive impact for all pupils, from both mainstream and the autism unit, this is worth much more than a few places on a league table.
