The Governing Body of the school is responsible for ensuring that the school provides the best possible education for the children, and to see that it fulfils all the requirements laid down by law. The Governing Body is made up of a variety of different types of governors. Parent governors are elected by the parents of children at the school, and teacher governors by their colleagues. Elections are held every four years, unless a vacancy arises. A number of governors are appointed by the local Education Authority and the District Council. The Governors are responsible for school policies and the running of the school. The day-to-day organisation and administration of the school is delegated to the Headteacher. The Governing Body meets regularly and individual governors frequently visit school to take an active part in the school improvement plan. The annual meeting to report to parents is held during the autumn term, and parents are advised of the date and sent a copy of the report a fortnight beforehand. The School Profile is a new way for schools to report annually to parents. It replaces the Governors' Annual Report. All schools use the same simple format, designed to provide information about the school's performance and its broader achievements, both in and beyond the classroom. The School Profile is intended to give parents the information they need to understand the school's performance, strengths and areas for improvement. Each Profile contains the following information:
